Video: WAR Helps...a LOT! by Steve Crowder

Chick Chat: .33% of Americans are in the Military and they do good!

For a while I was just so fed up with the things going on in Washington that I could no longer even follow what was happening. Sorry that I've been gone for a few months now. I just needed a break from being depressed about the state of our union.

I was thinking about what to write about today, while catching up on watching and posting Steve Crowder's videos from You Tube (which we all know that I love) when I came across this particular one called MARINES INVADE HAITI!! Kind of makes me chuckle because for a couple months now I've been dating a man who is in the U.S. Reserves and the video really touched home.

Naturally I've learned a lot more about the military since I started things with my beau. I had never before realized how incredibly multifaceted they are. I always knew in the back of my mind that we did good along with the defense, but as Steve Crowder says, "the only thing the US Military does a bad job of doing is letting everyone know all the good that they are doing." I'm lucky enough to have learned so much more in the last couple of months, specifically since my beau's job in the Army is mostly about doing good.

I didn't know that there were specific area of the military that focus their energies solely on entering areas and creating good will among the people. Departments that focusing on helping others and improving the lives of those touched by disaster or corruption; men and women that enter dangerous areas to earn the trust of villages and elders by enhancing their way of life. Even if in return they are improving the relationship between America and the world, it is a small price to ask for the amount of good that people around the world are receiving from US Military.

I am at least grateful that here in the US people seem to have a better understanding of the good that our men and women do overseas. For some reason the beau was surprised when he recently had to make a trip into New York City in his ACU (I didn't know what those were 2 months ago so for all of us lacking army knowledge those are the camo-patterned uniforms we've all seen) people were so appreciative. Walking around he was asked to take photos with people, given free merchandise and tours, paid special attention too and mostly just thanked for his service to our country.

I thank God everyday that the vast majority of this country appreciates the sacrifice that such a small portion of American are willing to do. Just so we all have a better understanding here: only 1/3 of 1% of our country serves in the military. Such a small percentage defending so many!

When I heard that number, my heart went out even more to all those in the military. Despite where your opinion lies on the wars, we have a responsibility to support the men and women risking their lives for us! I know that I am not brave enough to take the risks and accept the sacrifices that come along with being a part of the military family. Are you?

I’m going to include the Crowder video below of course and if you have a chance to watch it please do. He makes some good points but he also has some touching footage of our military…footage that I am not used to seeing. We don’t get to see those kind of images on CNN, CNBC, FOX etc. Videos of American soldiers doing the good are not as news worthy as the footage of the mistakes.

So I will end this little rant by saying a big THANK YOU to all those men and women that are a lot braver than 99.66% of this country. You risk your lives: mind, soul and body to protect, defend and improve life for the rest of us. As meager as a simple thanks can be for all that you do, it is the least we can give you in return. Thank You and God Bless!

Send the ACLU a CHRISTmas Card

A couple days ago I got this fwd and thought it quite a "clever"! I'm sure it has been circulated before but had to share in case there are those out there that haven't seen it.

...................................................................................................................................................
Christmas cards. This message is coming early so that you can get ready to
include an important address to your list.

Want to have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this
year.

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this
holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world..

Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.

Here's the address, just don't be rude or crude. (It's not the
Christian way, you know.)

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York , NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they
wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend
44 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that
there is no such thing as a " Holiday Tree". . . It's always been called a
CHRISTMAS TREE!

And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the
ACLU! They really DESERVE us!!

For those of you who aren't aware of them, the ACLU, (the American Civil
Liberties Union) is the one suing the U.S. Government to take God, Christmas
or anything Christian away from us. They represent the atheists and others
in this war. Help put Christ back in Christmas!

Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue"...

...Outsells Hillary Clinton's Memoir in First Week

Sarah Palin, a favorite target of late night comedians and "Saturday Night Live" for more than a year, is having the last laugh. Her memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," has become the publishing sensation of the holiday season.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate's autobiography has sold more than 700,000 copies in its first week of release -- including 300,000 on the first day alone.

Palin, a less-than-one-term Alaska governor, has even outstripped initial sales of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's memoir, "Living History." The former first lady moved 600,000 copies of her 2003 autobiography in its first week of publication. But Palin came up short against two-term President Bill Clinton, who sold 900,000 copies of his 1008-page tome, "My Life," in the first week.

On Tuesday, "Going Rogue" was the No. 1 bestseller on both Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. It also was Amazon's No. 1 bestseller in several categories, including biography, history, and non-fiction. And after ordering an initial print run of 1.5 million, Palin's publisher HarperCollins said last week that it ordered an additional million copies.

"I think people want to hear her side of the story," Jim Milliot, the business and news director of Publisher's Weekly, told FoxNews.com. "There's a lot of back and forth about her in the media and they want to know what she's about."

Both online booksellers are offering the book at steep discounts: Amazon has reduced the title by 50 percent from its $28.99 list price to $14.50, while Barnes & Noble is offering it for $17.39.

Even at such discounted prices, HarperCollins has -- or soon will -- recouped the reported $5 million advance it paid the former governor. "I think it's safe to say this was a good investment for the publisher," says Milliot. Sales of "Going Rogue" will soon break the 1 million mark and even at discounted prices, the publisher will likely make at least $4 per book.

While Palin isn't likely to start collecting royalty checks soon -- HarperCollins has to recoup overhead costs including printing, manufacturing and promotion -- both publisher and author have reason to rejoice. And political insiders says the sales of "Going Rogue" bode well for Palin, possibly providing her the forum to relaunch her political career.

"This book has allowed her to reclaim her political narrative," says Robert Costa, a William F. Buckley Jr. Fellow at the National Review, who has been blogging about Palin's book. "She has reclaimed her own story by writing it."

But the 2012 presidential election is a long way off, and Palin's political ambitions are still up in the air. "It remains to be seen if these sales can be translated into votes," Costa said.

Protesters at the B.Bernice Young School- Finding a Way to Be Heard

Obama song video prompts protests at NJ school

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Protesters brought some different songs Monday to an elementary school where students sang in praise of President Barack Obama, bringing criticism from conservative commentators who said children were being indoctrinated.

About 70 protesters stood on a sidewalk across the street from the B. Bernice Young School waving flags and homemade placards, singing "God Bless America" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and chanting slogans such as "No indoctrination" and "Free children, free minds."

A smaller group of counter-protesters watched and occasionally heckled them.

The school is in a diverse suburb 15 miles northeast of Philadelphia and landed in an uncomfortable national spotlight last month when the video, shot last school year during an author's visit, surfaced. In it, second-graders sang a medley that began, "Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama/He said that all must lend a hand/To make this country strong again."

Some critics of the president say the song was overtly political and follows a pattern of Obama being viewed as an idol rather than a politician.

Monday's 90-minute protest, held while the school was in session and attended largely by members of anti-tax organizations from around the state, was an outgrowth of that sentiment.
"We should continue protests like this to prevent this from happening again," said Robert Gordan, 66, a retiree from Middletown.

Karen Flowers, a 43-year-old state government social worker, was there to protest the protesters.

"I don't have any problem with the first African-American president, the children singing about it," Flowers said. "They're making a lot out of nothing."

Jim and Gina Pronchick, who were among the few protesters who have children in the school, said they were upset that their son was in the video without their permission—and that school officials hadn't fully explained the context of the song.

The song was performed in February during an assembly that celebrated a number of occasions, from Black History Month to Dental Health Month, the township Board of Education said in a statement Monday. The lyrics were sent home to parents in advance, the board said.

The video was made a month later when Charisse Carney-Nunes, who wrote the children's book "I Am Barack Obama," visited the school and children sang the song again, school officials said.
"There was no intention to make any political statement or promote a political agenda at all," Superintendent Christopher Manno said in the statement.

The teacher who oversaw the class has retired.

Obama quietly sends more troops to Afghanistan-- Careful Mr. Prez your Nobel Peace Prize might be Rebuked

In defense of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize Thorbjoern Jagland, Nobel Committee Chairman, says that Obama reached out to the Muslim world.

Wonder if he meant this?

Obama Quietly Authorizes Up to 15,000 More U.S. Troops for Afghanistan

In an unannounced move, President Obama is dispatching up to 15,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan beyond the 21,000 he announced in March.

The additional troops are primarily support forces -- such as engineers, medical personnel, intelligence experts and military police.

A Washington Post report published Tuesday said Obama dispatched 13,000 additional troops, but an unnamed defense official familiar with the process told Fox News that the number is closer to 15,000.

"Obama authorized the whole thing. The only thing you saw announced in a press release was the 21,000," a defense official, speaking anonymously, told the Washington Post.
But in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, a defense official refuted that the dispatch was "unannounced," saying the decision to send 15,000 additional troops was part of a larger move to reach 68,000 troops in Afghanistan by year's end -- a move that Defense Secretary Robert Gates cleared with Obama in March, the official said.

.....................................................................................................................................................................

Guess he took a small step in the direction that is best for the American people instead of following the liberal, tree-hugging, kum-bay-yah International Community.

Thank God our boys and girls over there are getting a little extra boost! God Bless Them!

The forward goes on to cite Madeline Murray O'Hare, Dr. Benjamin Spock, the entertainment industry and parental compliance as definte contributers to this lack of religion in schools and moral inadequacies of our youth.

I was fortunate enough to go to Christian school my whole life and had parents that were strict in the sense that I was raised not watching excessively violent, sexually promiscuous movies or similar music. But how much of my generation was raised in such an environment? The answer is not much...and I agree with the assumption that some of that violent, sexually promiscuous drug culture has resulted in atrocious and horrific deaths of Americans.

I am one of the thousands of people in this country that has been directly affected by one of those deaths. When I was a mere freshmen in college I ran in the same circles as a young man who we lost at the Virginia Tech tragedy.

I refuse to believe that this was a single incident (proof we also see in the list above that) by one deranged young man. Would all these young people who commit these crimes have acted in such manners if they had had different influences in life? This we'll never know! But what we do know it that violence in schools has become significantly more prevalent in the past couple decades. After God was banned from our conversations and after children were being raised in these "no-discipline-kum-bay-yah-everything-is-yours" households.

I've mentioned before my generation's sense of entitlement and I think this fits right into the picture. We've always been entitled to watch what we want, listen to what we want, play with what we want. own what we want, and in general get anything and everything we want. Everything from the new version of Halo to "getting rid" of those that bully us in high school.

My generation has a lot to learn...about compassion, about consequences, about love and about hate, about violence, sex, and drugs, and about right and wrong.

Pelosi Chokes Up Warning Against Political "Violence": UPDATED

What she says:
“I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw … I saw this myself in the late '70s in San Francisco. This kind of rhetoric is just, is really frightening and it created a climate in which we, violence took place and … I wish that we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made.”- Pelosi

What she means:
I'm concerned that all this information is going to affect how much power I have, so why don't you all calm down and focus your energy on drinking the Kool Aid...

.......................................................

UPDATE

The House Republicans' top campaign chief strongly denounced Speaker Nancy Pelosi's comments that appeared to question whether today's angry conservative protests were similar to anti-gay rallies in the late 1970s that preceded the assassination of two San Francisco political leaders.

Rep. Pete Sessions (Texas), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said Pelosi crossed the line when she related the rhetoric of anti-gay protesters in San Francisco in 1978 -- the year Harvey Milk, the first openly gay member of the city's board of supervisors, and his political ally, Mayor George Moscone, were killed by former supervisor Dan White -- to that of contemporary conservatives while answering a question about the protests against President Obama's health-care proposals.

"The Speaker is now likening genuine opposition to assassination. Such insulting rhetoric not only undermines the credibility of her office, but it underscores the desperate attempt by her party to divert attention away from a failing agenda," Sessions said in a statement. "During one of the most important policy debates of our time, the American people have been completely abandoned by those elected representatives under her control. Voters are justifiably frustrated with Washington, and the Speaker's verbal assault on voters accomplishes nothing other than furthering her reputation for being wildly out of touch with the American people."

Lots of Pictures of the "Tens of Thousands" of "Angry", "Gun-Totting" "Radical" "Mob"

Sophia Elena on 9/12 March on DC

A great job with some time lapse footage of protesters marching down Pennsylvania Avenue. This amateur filmmaker/reporter does a better job at illustrate the size of the people who attended the March on Washington than most news sources.

I have to admit I really
admire the videos she makes! I think we should start a fund to get her some better equipment though lol

Map of the Mall with Approximation of People

This map gives an estimation of the amount of people who fit in each area of the mall. The dots are the number of people that attended each inaguration. The biggest was Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 with 1.2 million. Click here for the actual interactive map.

On 9-12 people went almost all the way back to the Washington Monument. In the map above that count was 1.2 million. So maybe my est. of 850,000+ is an underestimation?

Here are some more pictures where you can kind of tell how far back people go...

Breaking Down the March on DC Count

Pajama Media breaks down the multiple reports:

“How big is it?” is certainly one of the world’s most dreaded questions.

In fact, after the Million Man March in 1995, Congress restricted the National Park Service from even making estimates — a restriction that was maintained for 14 years and then quietly rescinded this January for the Obama inauguration.

I’m talking about crowds, of course. I can’t take you people anywhere.

There have been a lot of estimates, from the “official” one of 60 to 70 thousand, up to the rumored 2 million. Let’s see if we can make a plausible estimate with some rigor and some idea of possible error.

Yesterday, I made a back of the envelope calculation that Stephen Green picked up at Vodkapundit, simply to see if the high estimates were at all plausible. A number I picked up by Google searching told me that a pretty good crowd is about 18 people in 10 square meters — that’s about half as crowded as a crowded elevator (approximately one person per six square feet).

Wikipedia told me that the National Mall covers about 125 hectares, or about 1.25 million square meters, and simple multiplication then tells us that if the whole mall was that crowded, that would be as many as 2.3 million people. Which is one hell of a crowd. Call that an upper bound — anyone who says it was more than 2.3 million is almost certainly wrong.

Just for comparison, we’ve got the Obama inauguration, which was originally estimated at 2 million and then revised down to about 850,000. Popular Science got GeoEye to take a satellite photo.

Now, via Green, we have a number reported by Barbara Espinosa from the “people meter” on Pennsylvania Ave — a total of 1.5 million people passed by during the march. Now, that’s some kind of direct count, but we don’t know what kind — if anyone has any information on this “people meter” I’d love to see it — so let’s save that as an estimate and see what else we get.
The National Park Service actually has a methodology for crowd estimation; they just were forbidden by Congress from using it after the Million Man March came out to be less than half a million. That restriction mysteriously disappeared for the Obama inauguration, and USA Today published a useful article on it.

Turns out the Park Service thinks a crowd is about one person per five square feet, or a little more dense than I used, but they clearly use a different area for the Mall than I got from Wikipedia — they say a full Mall is about 1.5 million. So all we need is an overhead photo, and we should be able to compare easily, right?

The only problem is that I can’t find one. No one paid to have GeoEye take one (next time, dammit) and no one has published one that I can find.

Darn.

So let’s take another approach. We’ve got Barbara Espinosa’s 1.5 million count. Is that plausible?
Here we have other comparable data, in the various pictures from Pennsylvania Avenue. There is a time lapse from the traffic camera at 14th Street, roughly where E would cross 14th NW if only E actually crossed 14th. It’s overlooking the Freedom Park, and looking down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol. The White House is basically behind us from this point of view.

What that shows us is Pennsylvania Avenue full of people walking past for at least three hours. (This matches some other independent accounts, like this at the New York Times.) So more back of the envelope: it’s 1.1 miles from Freedom Park to the Capitol, and Pennsylvania is six lanes plus a middle turn lane and some sidewalks — call it 100 feet wide. That’s about 600,000 square feet, so if it were a crowd standing still, that is at least 100,000 people. We’ve got a picture of that, so that’s got to be a lower bound. We’ve also got a variety of pictures of at least the part of the Mall from 3rd to Capitol Circle and it’s pretty full — the Park Service method tells us that’s around 250,000 right there.

But the people on Pennsylvania aren’t standing still: they’re walking, marching, at something between 2 and 4 miles per hour because that’s how fast people march. Let’s choose 3 mph: that would mean a line of people marching past a single point for three hours would be about 9 miles long. In that time, there would be enough people to fill that chunk of Pennsylvania about 8 times. That’s conservative, as what I’ve heard from people actually marching is that it was pretty packed; it wouldn’t be hard to believe the 1.5 million number either.

That’s 800,000 people.

The Park Service method, filling just the Capitol end of the Mall, is 250,000, but we have many reports of much overflow, and we also can figure that they wouldn’t have marched past for three full hours if there were only that many.

The legacy media estimate of 60-70 thousand is ludicrous: we have pictures of twice that. Still, it’s been reported, so we’ll keep it.

That’s a pretty wide range. To summarize:

Rumored number: 2 million
“People meter” count: 1.5 million
8“Pennsylvania Avenues” full of people: 800 thousand
Grant Memorial area by Park Service method: 250 thousand
Legacy media reports: 70 thousand

Average all of those and we get 900,000 plus (924,000). Throw out the outliers, we get 850,000. And remember that the 1.5 million was a real count; it’s inherently a more believable number. Our estimate should be “pulled” upward by that.

Conclusion: probably well more than 850,000 in the crowd.

Which is a lot of people.

............................................................................................................................................................

That was about the estimate that I gave the first day...Looking at the Million Man March. I think this is probably the closest to correct number out there. It definitely felt that big!

Why it is Laughable to Say "Tens of Thousands"

In 1995 there was something called the Million Man March where an estimated 870,000 people attended.

Now take a look at these two pictures...

Which one was from today?

If you didn't already guess, the first one was from 1995 and the second was from today....
You make your own judgement on how many people were there.

Here is another comparison photo for you:

Million Man March:

9/12 March on Washington:

(Mind you, there are a few difference, there are people in the entire area behind the huge tree on the left side of the picture that wasn't there in '95, I know because I was in that area AND that green area you see in the middle was blocked off by the police. )

March of Washington, Hundreds of Thousands of Patriots

I've never been surrounded by so many people and felt so safe! I've never been around so many American's and felt so proud! I've never been so encouraged! Today was such an amazing experience! It was a monumental moment in our fight against government waste, fraud, corruption, control...etc

I have to say that this March on Washington was not even remotely about a group of "sore losers" (as the Huffington Post claimed) expressing their racist and bi-partisan views. While there I heard and saw discontent about overall spending, fundamental changes, control and the corrupt agendas of the Obama's administration. I didn't hear or see, anything or anyone saying or carrying racial slurs. I even saw a poster with the words "Faces of Fascism" sprawled across it and pictures that included Obama's face alongside Bush's. This wasn't about Obama being elected, it wasn't some racist attempt to harm the president...it was all about claiming our rights as American's to disagree with the govenment.

From the moment we left our hotel room we started seeing the protesters. On the metro, men gave up their seat to women/children/elderly while people sang God Bless America. The metro stops were packed and people continues to cheer, chant and sing as they exited the buildings. When I was on Pennsylvania Avenue there was a SEA of people! I have no words to descirbe the amount of people there...you'll have to wait for the pictures.

The people were so nice, so polite, so friendly that I felt like everyone was someone I had already met! We marched all the way down Pennsylvania Avenue and gathered on the lawns of the Capitol building. My estimate would be somewhere around 750,000 to 1,200,000 people....don't pay attention to the media, look at the pictures and videos and make your own judgement about how many were there!

We walked around for a while, and then pulled out our blanket and sat on the lawn listening to the speakers. Which I must admit, I didn't see once! You could at least hear the speakers from where I was, but not see them. There were some people that couldn't hear very much but that was a blessing since it meant that the protest was a lot bigger than even the organizers imagined!

My mother and I met countless people from Maryland, South/North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, California, Washington State, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and I know there were a lot more states represented!

I'm trying to get the pictures up as sooon as I can, I have a couple hundred so its taking me a little longer to get an album of some sort going. In the meantime, I'll put up some YouTube vids and article links as they come up.

America's Greatest Tragedy: We'll Never Forget

Lets us not remember today with some badly focused scheme, let us remember 9-11 the way it should be remembered.

Another Wonderful Tribute Video

Today marks the anniversary of the greatest tragedy in American history. Everyone remembers where they were 8 years ago today.

I know I'll never forget! I was home from school that day, sick with a cold. My mother had left on a business trip that morning and I woke up to a call from my dad, telling me to turn the TV on and asking me where my mother was going. I couldn't remember.

For some strange reason my mother never got off the ground that morning and I thank the Lord every day for some things that happened that day. Already boarded on her Ft. Lauderdale flight to Dallas my mother says she will never forget the reaction of some passengers when they announced that there was a problem with the plane and they couldn't take off. There was a man, one row back who took out a cell phone and started yelling to whoever was on the other end. My mother said everyone turned to look at him because it was so out of the ordinary to hear someone yelling so loudly and violently...in Arabic. Did I mention she had been upgraded to first class?

It was only weeks later after we had learned all the facts, that hijackers were Saudi Arabian, that the hijackers trained in Florida, that hijackers were seated in first class, that there had been more targets, that my mother called in and reported the incident. Who knows if it was a business man who was going to miss a meeting, a father missing a recital or...something else. We will never know but every 9-11 I still remember the fear I felt when I couldn't recall where my mother was going. I'll still remember the anticipation I felt when I couldn't reach her quickly and I will ALWAYS remember her story and the chills it gave me.

I realize that there are 9-11 stories of loss, hope and thanks and that my story is not extraordinary. It is just mine. My little piece of the bigger picture. The bigger loss that was felt, the bigger compassion that commenced, the grander unity that overwhelmed America as we stood together to honor and remember our fallen in those days.

We need to recall those emotions that flooded the nation, not pretend to honor this day with activites unrelated to the event. This day should always be focused on those people that lost their lives.

The 87 people we lost on American Flight 11.
The 59 people we lost on United Flight 175.
The 59 people we lost on American Flight 77.
The 40 people we lost on United 93.
The 125 people we lost in the Pentagon.
