Chick Chat: Thoughts on Different Topics

Lets start the day off with some statistics...ahh the sweet sound of dropping poll numbers for the Obama/Pelosi/Reid administration. The great pleasure I derive from this stems not from seeing them fail, but seeing a possibility of hope for this country.

Not change, but hope that we wont get ourselves so deeply into the socialist agenda that we can't crawl our way our during my lifetime.

According to Rasmussen...

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Polls for Saturday shows that 33% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. 38% Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -5"

"71% of U.S. voters say President Obama's policies have increased the size of the federal deficit"

"54% of Americans oppose any further funding of the federal 'cash for clunkers' program"

Sonia Sotomayor was just confirmed and I can't begin to say how much I could care less that she is a Hispanic woman. It is so frustrating that people keep getting these important and influential jobs simply because they are yellow, blue, green, Martians, Atlantis Merpeople. Who said that being politically correct was more important than picking the BEST person for the job?? Whoever that person is should be locked away in a solitary room where their crazy jabbering can't affect this country anymore!

Regardless of what Sotomayors views are, I just find it utterly ridiculous that she was appointed because it was the politically correct thing to do---Washington doesn't do anything else that is 'politically' correct.

I am going to say now, I just hope that the next time Obama gets to appoint a Supreme Court Justice, the Republicans have enough power to do something about it.

Sidenote: Did you know Sotomayor is NOT the first Hispanic nominated for the position? Bush nominated a Hispanic, Miguel Estrada, and he was butchered by the liberals.

On to my favorite topic lately- health care reform. I was reading an article about Senior Citizens and Health Care Reform and it is frightening how these little hidden provisions could seriously alter the lives of so many Americans. Lets face it, the baby boomers are upon us and the health care costs are going to be astronomical. So here is an easy solution, lets just not.

Not care for the sick, not worry about trying to prolong the lives of those that can't be useful to society because, well, darn we won't miss them a whole lot anyways. Whether they die in 5 years of 5 days it doesn't make a huge difference they are dying anyways.

Now this is obviously an extreme point of view and I am being beyond sarcastic to make the simple point that-- No we cannot decide for anyone, regardless of age, what their medical care will look like. There is a provision in the health care bill for "end-of-life consultations"! They are claiming this is a financial move because those those who discuss there end of life options apparenlty spend less in the hospital. Now I'm wondering, do they spend less because they fight less? Does talking about your end of life options resign you to die? A Harvard study quoted a $1100 savings per final week of life for those patients that had these conversations and that they "typically did not live longer if they received intensive care."

What I want to know is, if you had a loved one dying in the hospital, wouldn't you want them to fight for every single moment? Those last moments are often the most terrible and yet loving minutes of the process, but they are the moments that you never forget...if you can claim them. I would like to claim those moments when my parents are leaving me, and no government organization should take those away from me. I would pay $11,000 for a moment to say goodbye.

Apathy wont get you those moments. Take the time to go to the Townhall meetings. Use 30 minutes of every day reading articles, listening to the radio or watching the news.

Here are pdf of the townhall meetings taking place in a city near you!

Obama is claiming that the worst is behind us and that he has saved the US economy (and he is trying to use that as selling point for health care--beware!!) but that is simply not true. If you look at unemployment it seems to simply have steadied. Instead of loosing 443,000 jobs we lost 247,000 jobs. Well isnt that dandy! Unemployment also seems to have dropped. YAY! Rejoice! Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!

...hold on a second.

Lets talk for a moment about those statistics. Just because less people are loosing their jobs doesn't mean that they are in any less trouble. Unemployment percentages are dropping because people have either stopped looking for jobs or are working part time or have been unemployed for so long that they are no longer able to collect unemployment.

Now I don't understand real well how all that works but I do know there are some serious flaws with the way they count all these things. Take me for example. Recent college graduate who hasn
t been able to find steady work for a year. Am I included in statistics? Of course not!

There are so many who are not accounted for that of course it seems like that the economy is "stabilizing". Because they are ignoring the real problem and instead trying to put us, I should say, he is trying to put himself in a position of savior!
