Fox Flashback: Aug 11th (Glenn)

The Glenn Beck show

"Question with Boldness"

First on the show today Glenn made it perfectly clear that no on believes eugenics are coming with the Health Care Reform.

Video: History of Eugenics
  • Not a new idea
  • American and British Socialist and Progressives first started the movement
  • These people thought that through prohibition and birth control they could cure the ills of modern society, such as poor public hygiene, rising pop in lower class and urban crowding
  • In 1907, Indiana passed the first sterilization law
  • In the next 30 yrs 29 other states followed suit, including Canada and Europe
  • The leader of the new Liberalism movement, Herbert Croly wrote The Promise of American Life where he said "Interfere on behalf of the fittest"
  • Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson; popular thought
  • 1912 Wilson created a board of examiners for feeble minded, epileptics and other defectives, where the state could decide "where procreation was inadvisable like for criminals, poor kids and the ill defined and other defectives"
  • Charles van Hise, Roosevelt's adviser, "He who thinks not of himself primarily, but of his race, and of its future, is the new patriot."
  • Roosevelt endorsed The Passing of the Great Race by Madison Grant, a book Hitler later refereed to as his Bible.
  • The year that Hitler joined the Nazi party, 1920m they had rounded up hundreds of thousands of disabled, elderly and mentally ill and exterminated them as "useless bread gobblers" or "life unworthy of life"
  • In America, the Buck vs Bell case of 1927 Progressive Lawyers stood on a vaccination law in order to keep Carry Buck from reproducing. We know know she was retarded. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote, "Three generations of imbeciles are enough."
  • Seven years later Hilter wrote to the President of the American Eugenics Society to ask for a copy of his famous "Case for Sterilization" which called for full sterilization of some 10 million Americans.
  • During that year, Nazi's sterilized some 50,000 "unfit" Germans. Which caused an American geneticist to complain, "The Germans are beating us at our own game."

If you can find this next part of the program (I will attempt to later) I recommend it because Glenn admits to the public that he has a daughter with cerebral palsy who wasn't expected to walk/talk yet eventually went to college. He gets very emotional because of a poster that reminded him of her.

It is a poster from Hitler Germany showing a mentally ill man. It says paraphrased, "its going to cost 60,000 marks to keep this man alive, hes a sweet guy and everything but his quality of life, its a shame, your time is up."

...................................................................................................................................
  • Summary of what President said about death panels 'rumors': its a rumor, the intention of members of congress was to give people more information about end of life care, not forcing anyone to do anything
  • Glenn makes it clear that he DOES NOT think Obamacare wants to unplug grandmothers but......What happened in Germany was that they couldn't afford to health care for all.
  • "You see they devalued the marc, our dollar, so much...the government just started to print money. Does that sound familiar? This action forced Germany into an economic collapse"

Questions to ask yourself:
Is it possible for our economy to go into an emergency situation?
Could it collapse with the they way we are printing at will and spending?
Is it possible that our debt is so high that we can't pay it back?
Or we have to make hard decisions and ration health care?

The answer everyone will tell you is.... yes!

So *logically* the question you must ask is...

If we have a crisis, what will our President do?

In order to understand what would happen in a situation of crisi, we must look at the people the president has said he would look to for advise. "Whose voice will the President hear?

  • Dr. Ezekial Emmanuel, Health Adviser, he said this in Jan 2009, "When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individual aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most change whereas the youngest and oldest people get changes that are attenuated."
  • The Science Czar, John Holdren says, "The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experience and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being." He also wrote about putting sterilization in drinking water for population control.
  • One of the leaders in such thoughts is a friends of the Regulatory Czar, Cass R. Sunstein.
  • Cass Sunstein is the person who will take that big bill and make the regulations to point us in the right direction.
  • One of Sunsteins good friends is Princeton professor Peter Singer, in July 2009, he wrote "Why we must ration health care" He wants to do it now. In the article he wrote "saving the life of one teenager is equivalent to saving the lives of FOURTEEN 85-year-olds."
  • In Nov. 1996 Dr. Ezekial Emmanual said, "Conversely, services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed.
What can they be saying behind close doors if they say this to the public??

...................................................................................................................................

Highlights from the Panel Discussion:

Ronald Pestritto: author of Woodrow Wilson Roots of Modern Liberalism
Carter Sneed: associate professor of law, Notre Dame, former general counsel to Bush's Council on Bioethics
John Hoff: former Health and Human Services official in Bush admin

Glenn: What is the connection to what I've been saying?

Sneed: Any system where the
government allocates scarce resources to the population based on judgments of whose entitled to receive benfits and more importantly whose not entitled to receive benefits. There are serious questions about possible discrimination and injustices. Those are serious questions to raise and all the proposals floating in the public square raise those questions.

Glenn: I'm not saying these statements are inherently evil, its in the implementation where things go wrong.

According to an article the "complete lives system" basically says that we will value the young more than old. But not the very young because we haven't invested in them much, this isn't discrimination because the 65 yr old was once 25. It is premature to apply it to health care system.

Pestritto: We are talking about health care rationing ...the fact is when your extending benefits to so many you have to talk about reducing cost. It doesn't have to take an emergency, the government will be in charge of allocating scarce resources.

*If I can find a video with this conversation I will because they are saying very interesting things but it is extremely fast!!
  • Basically they are talking about Emmanuel's and Singer's history of saying that children are disposable or not really human until they are conscious that there is a tomorrow.
  • We as a society are now discussing the value of a child's life not before birth but even after birth.
  • The bill explicitly says nothing about abortion. The way the law works when there is silence it is considered a medical procedure.
  • There is nothing really in this bill. It has provision for a Benefits Advisory Committee appointed by President and GAO that will come up with what a benefit is and how to distribute it. (Hoff)
  • The end of life conversations is 10 pages of the bill and whats worrysome is it could have been a couple lines. Whats it is is that the government is telling doctors what to the conversation with the patient can be. They have to give legal advice. Dr. gets paid for doing it but secondly the doctor gets judged on quality points on whether or not he has this conversation. (Hoff)
Glenn has a drawing on his chalkboard. Its basically a visual representation of the Obama advisers links to each other and radial thinkers.

He makes a point to say these people are in there own right to believe these things but that they are not mainstream thinkers...since there within that mix they believe in communism, don't believe babies are humans, animals deserve the same right and forced abortion.

  1. Van Hise is also noted for saying "we know enough about eugenics so that if the knowledge were applied, the defective classes would disappear within a generation". Funny how that doesn't seem to appear in his bio up in Madison, or even on his wikipedia page.

Also on the "germans beating us" quote, that was said by Joseph DeJarnette, superintendent of Virginia's Western State Hospital, it was quoted in the Richmond Times Dispatch.

I beleive he was also former adviser to Teddy Roosevelt. The old Western State Hospital in Staunton is a scary foreboding place that much more befits it's original name "Western Lunatic Asylum".
