Think wayyyyy back to the beginning of Obama's term. (Feels like forever doesn't it) On Feburary 22, 2009 Obama vows to cut huge deficit in half by end of his first term.

Now I am no financial genius but I am pretty sure that the deficit is a hell of a lot higher in 2009, than in 2008, 2007, 2006...etc etc.

Jump to Aug 25, 2009. Today. Our US Budget Deficit to date this year is just about 1.22 trillion. Thanks to the website usdebtclock.org you can see the economic state of our country and citizens in real time.

Just today Peter Orszaq, director of the Office of Management and Budget, announced that the deficit is now expected to rise to $9 trillion, from $7.1 trillion. It was also announce that the economy is estimated to shrink by 2.8 this year. Being the biggest deficit since WW II, by 2019 the total debt estimate is $17.5 million, 76.5% of GDP. Currently, this years debt represents 56% of GDP.
